Where to find electric car charging points in Spain using this live map
A simple online map shows thousands of charging locations across Spain and helps plan longer journeys

If you drive an electric car in Spain, knowing where to charge it can feel like a bit of a guessing game. And no motorist wants to feel lost when that ‘battery low’ light starts flashing. The good news is there’s a simple way to see exactly what’s available near you or along your route.
This interactive map lets you find electric car charging points across the country in just a few clicks:
You can use it to search your local area or plan ahead before a longer journey, which is especially useful if you are heading out on the motorway and want to avoid that last-minute ‘battery low’ panic.
Despite the common belief that charging points are hard to find, Spain actually now has slightly more charging locations than traditional petrol stations. Recent data shows there are at least 12,727 public charging locations nationwide, compared to 12,685 fuel stations. When you break that down further, there are more than 40,000 individual charging points available.
A charging point can be public or private and is simply a place where you can plug in an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. Public stations are usually straightforward to use, with on-screen instructions, although many require a payment card or app to start charging.
If you’re trying to keep costs down, there are also places where you can charge for free, although availability varies depending on location.
Supermarkets are one of the most common options. Chains like Lidl, Aldi and Mercadona have installed charging points at many stores, often allowing customers to plug in for free for a limited time. Some locations even offer faster chargers, although these may come with a fee.
Restaurants and cafés are starting to follow the same trend, particularly those with their own parking. Some fast food chains and coffee shops now offer free charging while you eat or take a break.
Hotels are another useful option, especially on longer trips. Many offer complimentary charging for guests, although you often need to check in at reception first or pay for parking.
You can also find charging points in public car parks, airports and train stations, where you can leave your car plugged in during your journey. In most cases, charging is free but standard parking fees still apply.
With fuel prices remaining high, electric cars are becoming more appealing for drivers in Spain. Charging at home can cost as little as €1.50 to €2 per 100 km, compared to around €8 to €12 for petrol, making a noticeable difference over time.
As the network continues to expand under long-term government plans, tools like the map above are becoming essential for making electric driving in Spain easier and more practical.
