A significant development has emerged in the case against a Murcia plastic surgeon accused of raping sedated patients in his operating theatre. The case first shocked the region last December when the surgeon was arrested and denied the allegations against him. He has remained in custody ever since, and the investigation has now taken a potentially decisive turn.

 

Forensic doctors from the Institute of Legal Medicine of Murcia have confirmed the discovery of traces of human semen on swabs taken from the genitals of one of the alleged victims, following analysis by the biology service of the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences in Madrid. The alleged assault had been witnessed and recorded by two healthcare workers present in the operating room at the time.

 

The finding came after the victim's lawyer, Raúl Pardo-Geijo, pushed for the samples to be urgently analysed. The victim had been tested at the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital shortly after the alleged assault came to light, with vaginal and endocervical swabs taken alongside culture and serology tests. Crucially, the victim had stated she had not had sexual relations since June 2024. Pardo-Geijo warned that the results had not been passed to the court and demanded they be requested immediately, citing the risk that the samples could be destroyed.

 

A second alleged victim had come forward as the investigation widened in the weeks that followed the initial arrest, and the case has continued to grow in complexity since then.

 

The forensic report now confirms the presence of semen and states that the traces must be compared with the genetic profile of the accused. Pardo-Geijo described the development in carefully chosen words. "This is not over," he said. "There is one last piece to fit into the puzzle."

 

The accused, identified only by his initials David S., remains in prison. Earlier this summer the investigating magistrate at Court Number 4 in Molina de Segura formally converted the preliminary proceedings into a full case, placing the suspect one step closer to trial before the Provincial Court. The court had previously rejected bail, citing the risk of repeat offences, and that position has been maintained, with the magistrate ruling that nothing has changed since the circumstances that led to pre-trial detention in December 2025.

 

A separate request by the accused to learn the identities of the patients accusing him was also turned down. Beyond the case now moving towards trial, he faces two further accusations of sexual assault, with one of those additional investigations described as having "clear evidence" against him.
