August 17 to 24 Annual fiestas in the Sierra Espuña village of El Berro
The fiestas in the Alhama village are held in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores
The village of El Berro, in the foothills of Sierra Espuña, is 14 kilometres north-west of Alhama de Murcia and although it is home to only around 200 permanent residents, the population swells considerably during the summer months due to the importance of rural tourism in the area.
This is further boosted by the campsite, and the increased population enjoys the annual fiestas every year at the end of August, held in honour of the patron of El Berro, the Virgen de los Dolores.
The program for the 2026 fiestas includes the following:
Monday August 17
A TikTok and Instagram competition begins: upload your video during the fiestas (maximum duration 30 seconds) with the hashtag #elberroenfiestas2026 and tag in @eligeelberroenfiestas2026.
18.00: Open-air painting competition, beginning in the Calle Mayor.
22.00: Open-air cinema for children at Las Escuelas.
Tuesday August 18
16.30: Play Station tournament in pairs at the Casa de la Cultura.
19.00: Caliche tournament in the car park.
22.00: Open-air cinema for children at Las Escuelas.
23.00: An evening of music and laughter in the Calle Mayor.
Wednesday August 19
17.00: Children’s workshop preparing decorative ribbons for the races later in the week in the Casa de la Cultura.
19.00: Pairs football with each pair tied together by the ankle at Las Escuelas!
22.00: An evening of music and laughter as decorations are put up in the Calle Mayor, come along and help!
Thursday August 20
17.30: Musical bingo at the Casa de la cultura.
19.30: The celebrations begin in earnest as the official starting rocket is fired in the Calle Mayor.
20.00: Zumba in the Calle Mayor with the group Pena Pa Tos.
22.00: A tribute show to singer Manolo Escobar, with many of his old favourites including "El Porompompero" and "Mi carro", in the Calle Mayor.
Midnight: Music with DJ Yiyo in the Calle Mayor.
Friday August 21
The Eulalia Sánchez Cava Memorial photography exhibition in the Casa de la Cultura.
17.00: Children’s bicycle and ribbons contest in the Calle Mayor.
18.00: The main bicycle and ribbons contest in the Calle Mayor.
20.30: A grilled barbecue supper for all in the car park.
22.30: The official opening speech of the fiestas in the Calle Mayor.
23.00: Music from Duo Serendipity.
1.15: Music from Retropop.
3.00: Firecrackers.
3.15: DJ music.
Saturday August 22
11.00: Children’s attractions in the car park – water games are involved so bring a towel and plenty of sun cream!
13.30: Charity lunch to raise funds for Afacmur in the car park.
18.00: Float parade starting outside the church.
23.00: Music from Conecta 2.
00.15: Prizes are awarded to locals,
1.30: Bailao, music and dancing into the early hours.
3.30: Firecrackers.
Sunday August 23
11.00: Floral and musical parade with the group No Me Toques Los Bemoles.
11.00: Almond splitting competition in the car park.
11.00: Los Que Las Plantas Nos Han Dado, a workshop organized by the Sierra Espuña park authorities about the uses of plants in traditional life. Venue: car park outside Camping Sierra Espuña.
12.00: Children’s games in the car park.
12.00: Aperitivo in the car park, with portions of mussels!
19.00: The Aires de México mariachi band.
21.00: Mass with music from the Virgen del Rosario choir is followed by a procession in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores with the town band of Alhama de Murcia, and firecrackers are then set off in memory of Juan “El Líos”.
23.00: Music from Nueva Ruta.
1.30: Flamenco pop with Kimbao.
3.15: DJ music.
Monday August 24
11.30: Musical parade with No Me Toques Los Bemoles.
13.00: The traditional migas competition and tomato-picking in the car park.
16.00: The traditional dip in the local stream!
17.00: Foam party at Las Escuelas.
18.30: Traditional games in the Calle Mayor.
22.30: Comedy with Marco Antonio.

Alhama de Murcia Tourist information office is located on the edge of the Plaza de la Constitución, just a few metres away from the underground car park and the Town hall of Alhama de Murcia.
The tourist office offers free guided audiotours in English which take visitors around the historical sites of interest in Alhama. These be loaned at any time, although allow an hour and a half to complete the tour, and when loaning the audio equipment visitors are asked to leave passports or ID cards with the tourist office.
The office also carries a full range of leaflets for the archaeological museum of Los Baños, which is built around the historic spa which gives Alhama its name, and the mountains of Sierra Espuña, which is also an important area within the municipality of Alhama. Areas such as El Berro and Gebas have a number of interesting routes which can be followed and there are several picnic areas and good walking routes within the Sierra Espuña natural park.
The tourist office also carries leaflets for the many cultural events and fiestas which take place in Alhama throughout the year, including Los Mayos, Semana Santa, Christmas,the Romería of La Candelaria and the Auto de los Reyes Magos in El Berro.
