ARCHIVED - 59 deaths in Spain on Sunday, second consecutive day below 100
ARCHIVED ARTICLE The figures were presented four hours later today to try and eliminate the “Monday effect”

The official fatalities figures released by the Ministry of Health for Sunday (presented Monday afternoon) have remained below 100 for the second consecutive day.
The presentation of the figures for Sunday was put back four hours on Monday to try and gather the most accurate data possible as the Ministry is aware that the figures presented in recent weeks have become unreliable on Mondays due to the so-called “Monday effect” as less administrative staff work in the health service on Sundays, so data is not always processed in time for the media presentation the following day at lunchtime.
The number of fatalities was 59 during the last 28 hours, the second consecutive day below 100; the number of fatalities on Sunday was 87, the lowest figure in two months. This is the lowest figure since the 16th March when there were 22 deaths; after this date the figures shot up and have remained higher ever since.
This brings the total figure to date up to 27,709.
The number of new cases recorded on Sunday was 285, as opposed to the 421 of Sunday. This brings the number of new cases down to a level not seen since the pandemic was first officially classified as such on 8th March.
The number of cases diagnosed since that point is now 231.606.
