The Region of Murcia is joining the rapidly growing list of regions in which it will be mandatory to wear a mask in public areas at all times other than when eating, swimming, undertaking sporting activities or when on the beach.
Cataluña and the Balearic Islands were the first to make the decision and in the last few days the rapidly growing number of outbreaks across the country since the state of emergency concluded has prompted the regional governments of Andalucía, Extremadura, La Rioja, Navarra and Aragón to follow their lead. Asturias and Cantabria are also considering imposing their own bans and it is highly likely that all of Spain will adopt the measure.
At the moment the use of masks is mandatory inside buildings and enclosed spaces such as shops, shopping centres, etc as well as on public transport and in situations where it is impossible to observe 1.5 metres social distancing.
From Monday it will be obligatory to wear a mask at all times when leaving the house, regardless of whether social distancing can be observed or not.
