ARCHIVED - Sunday 17th November guided visit of Monte Arabi prehistoric rock art and bodega in Yecla
See the important prehistoric rock art of the Monte Arabí and sample the local wines
Route name: PINTURAS RUPESTRES MONTE ARABÍ + BODEGA RUTA DEL VINO DE YECLA
This guided route visits the Monte Arabí, a site protected as being of cultural interest and a heritage site, due principally to the important prehistoric rock art at its foot.
Although there is an open walking route around the base of Monte Arabí, the rock art can only be visited in the company of a guide, as it is inside a fenced and enclosed area, so this guided route offers a rare chance to see the art and learn a little about it.
Following the visit to Monte Arabí, the tour continues with a visit to one of the bodegas comprising the Yecla Wine Route, with a chance to not only visit the workings of the bodega,in this case Bodegas La Purísima, but also sample the wines produced, as well as purchase them should you so wish.
Participants will depart from the parking area alongside the Plaza de Toros in Yecla (the bullring) at 9.45am driving to the start point. Own transport is required as the site is a good 20 minute drive from the town centre.
Sensible walking shoes are required for the route as the ground around the site is rough and rocky, and participants should carry water and a snack and take sensible precautions to protect themselves from the sun.
The tour, which is in Spanish, starts at 09:45am and costs 7.50 euros.
Meeting point: alongside Bodegas Castaño in Yecla
