Alhama de Murcia is located at the foot of the Sierra Espuña and has a long and interesting history, with an intimate and characterful old quarter, holding remains dating from its Roman, Moorish and Christian occupations. The town was well known by each of these separate cultures, who enjoyed the hot thermal spas which flowed from the ground in the location of the archaeological museum, where remains of the hot baths used by each of these occupants of the area can still be seen today.This in turn, led to other activities, creating the unique character of Alhama de Murcia.
This month the municipality offers a free theatrical guided tour of the old quarter of Alhama de Murcia, exploring the history of the town and its important historical locations. This tour is in Spanish and is free of charge, leaving from the Tourist Office at 11am.
