ARCHIVED - Spain administers more than half a million vaccines in one day ; a new record
The Spanish authorities push hard to accelerate the covid vaccine programme across Spain
The latest Ministry of Health figures published on Thursday, May 6 revealed that 12 per cent of Spain’s residents have now been fully vaccinated, with 574,014 administered in the previous 24 hours.
In Spain, 18,489,580 doses have now been administered, representing 87.7 per cent of the vaccines sent out to the country’s regions. In total, 5,696,825 people are now fully inoculated, having either received both doses of the Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca vaccines or one dose of the single-shot Janssen jab, and 12,966,552 people have received at least one jab, representing 27.3 per cent of Spain’s population; the total is slowly creeping upwards by about one per cent a day.
The majority of people who are fully vaccinated have received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine (5,118,884 people). This is followed by the Moderna jab (403,816 people), the AstraZeneca vaccine (328,000 people), and then the Janssen vaccine (173,799 people).
The latest figures by the Ministry of Health also revealed that 81.3 per cent of Spain’s over 60s have now received at least one dose of the vaccine, with 35.9 per cent of that age group now fully vaccinated.
Some areas have already started vaccinating those in the 55-59 age group and more are expected to follow next week as the flow of Pfizer vaccines increases rapidly.
