This year’s Semana Flamenca de Alhama de Murcia festival, now renamed SFAM, comes to a close on Saturday 28th September with the last of four evenings of free music and dance, this time featuring Canastéreo and Pablo Egea with Crudo Pimiento.
Canastéreo is an Andalusian project in which flamenco is mixed with more Angñlo-Saxon influences such as stoner and indie as well as a certain oriental texture, and which was first presented in 2018 on the acclaimed EP Raíces Lunáticas. Since then Jesús Contador, Marcos González, Juan Bidegain, Alberto Mora and Felipe Rull have performed both in Spain and in the USA, feeding off diverse aspects of literatura, cinema and painting for their inspiration in ensuring that their music is in a constant state of further development.
Pablo Egea is a dancer and choreographer who made his debut in the West End of London in 2019 and has also wone respect in Spain, Japan and Mexico. He accompanies Crudo Pimento, a group always at the forefront of musical innovation as they mix flamenco, hardcore and the folk traditions of the Region of Murcia. Their latest album, “El Carmen 13:7”, even incorporates elements as diverse as Jamaican reggae and trash metal!
The evening at the Teatro Cine Velasco begins at 21.00 and although admission is free of charge prior booking is required through an “invitation” system online here.
