Semana Santa in San Javier: Full Easter Week schedule 2024
This year’s Holy Week will include a Good Friday procession and a range of masses and vigils in San Javier
The celebration of Semana Santa, or Holy Week, in San Javier will be marked this year with a variety of religious processions, vigils and masses. You will find a full program of events below but first, a few words from San Javier Parish Priest, Juan Prieto Solana, on the meaning of Easter:
“What was a dream and was latent in the heart of all those from San Javier for 87 years is now a reality. On Holy Thursday of the year 2023, the day of brotherly love, we were moved to see the three images of the Passion emerge from inside the temple. Under the gaze and tears of the Sorrowful Mother, we too were able to contemplate the Beloved Son carrying the Cross.
“There are no words for so much Love of God for us, only the manifestation and beauty of penitent and grateful silence, the expression of unity and solidarity of a believing people together with their Master and Saviour.
“Thank you for the efforts, faith and affection of each of you who participates in the Easter Triduum, in the Holy Thursday Procession and in the Via Crucis on Friday.
“Let us live the holiest week of Christian life, the greatest Week of the Parish. Turn your gaze to the Lord, let your heart be touched by the Words of Christ on the Cross and enjoy the gift of Easter that regenerates us and renews us as beloved children of God.”
