Murcia possesses a number of regional parks, each one offering a unique eco-system with its own characteristics, ranging from the salinas park in San Pedro del Pinatar, which includes wild beaches, posidonia meadows and salt flats, through the sandy dunes and volcanic rocks of the Calblanque park, to the cool forests and high peaks of the Sierra de Espuña.
Each month the regional parks offer a number of free activities, some of them designed to be enjoyed at your own leisure and others in organised groups on specific dates. Group activities normally require pre-booking as numbers are generally limited: the earlier you book, the better.
Each park has its own visitor centre which can be visited at any time, as well as the activities offered below.
Most of these require pre-booking, are free of charge and all activities are in Spanish unless otherwise stated although obviously these activities are participative and highly visual.
This activity is run by:
The Centro de Visitantes y Gestión “Ricardo Codorníu”.
This is in the heart of the Sierra Espuña, a heavily forested area in the higher part of south-west Murcia which encompasses areas of Totana, Alhama de Murcia, Aledo and Mula and is full of attractive walking routes which can be enjoyed at leisure and restaurants within the parks.

This free guided route is aimed at a family audience, with children aged over 6 . Suitable footwear and clothing for a route of this duration should be worn and it is recommended that participants carry water and something to eat as the walk stops off for a break.
Departure is at 10:00 from the Sierra Espuña and concludes at 13:30. The exact location will be confirmed on booking. Call 968 431 430 to reserve a place. Booking for this route opens on the 29th February and the activity is free of charge.
