ARCHIVED - Saturday 14th December, Free accompanied 18km walking route: Bolnuevo to Percheles in the Mazarrón municipality
Running along the southern flank of the Sierra de las Moreras
During December 2019 the municipality of Mazarrón offers a free guided walk between Bolnuevo and Percheles with commentary in SPANISH.(see feed below for other routes).
It is fairly common for someone on the route to speak enough English to assist non-Spanish speakers, although this route is very visual.
This route is over a distance of 18 kilometres, so is not for the faint hearted and is described as being of medium to high difficulty level, climbing 100 metres during the walk. This is a circular route, following the southern face of the Sierra de las Moreras, and running along the coast between Bolnuevo and Percheles, returning in a loop back to the departure point.
The duration of the route is approximately 5 hours and the walk departs at 09:00.
All routes in Mazarrón have to be booked via the Tourist Office in the Puerto de Mazarrón and places are limited.Bookings normally open one week before the tour to prevent bookings being made and participants not turning up, and the tourist office splits the bookings to allow a percentage to be made online and the remaining places allocated to people who go into the tourist office to book.
Bookings can be made by calling 968 59 44 26, in person at the tourist office or by emailing the tourist office. Click here for Tourist Office Puerto de Mazarrón. Alternatively, book online using the booking system below.
All of the tours are free of charge
Those participating in senderismo routes should make sure they wear suitable footwear, carry water, wear a hat and suncream and ensure they are physically capable of completing these walks, which are always graded. Walking batons are always a good idea as routes often cover uneven ground and the more difficult routes involve a lot of scrambling over rocks and climbing uphill.
