ARCHIVED - Reduced format San Javier Jazz Festival will take place in summer 2021
8 nights of concerts in July and August in a reduced festival format after last year’s cancellation
After the pandemic caused the cancellation of the 2020 event the San Javier International Jazz Festival returns this year, albeit in rather reduced form, with The Jayhawks featuring on a program of eight nights of concerts between July 16 and August 1.
The “transitional” format has been decided upon as Spain prepares for the “new normal” in the light of uncertainty over the viability of international touring, and the only act officially confirmed is the Mineeapolis-based country-folk group. The 2021 festival will dedicated to the late Chick Corea, who died earlier this year.
The possibility is still being weighed up of holding events outside the main auditorium and this will depend on how Covid-19 develops, while the full program is scheduled to be published during the second half of May.
