<span style='color:#780948'>ARCHIVED</span> - Police call for help from public to investigate illegal tyre dump in Lorca

Local Police in Lorca are investigating the illegal dumping of vehicle tyres in the ravine of the industrial area of La Hoya, and have called for assistance from members of the public to catch those responsible.

Lorca’s Councillor for Public Safety of the City of Lorca, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, said, “Officers went there and found the tyres” but were unable to locate the people responsible for the illegal dumping, a crime which “is punishable for breach of the municipal ordinance”.

Councillor Ruiz Guillén has launched an appeal for public cooperation “to clarify the facts” of the case and said that “any information can be helpful to find out what person or group of people have committed this offence”.

“These types of practices pose a significant damage to the environment due to the pollution it causes to the land when this waste is not treated correctly,” he said. “In the municipality of Lorca we have facilities for the treatment of this type of waste where they can be deposited.”
