La Mariposa Hotel, Restaurant and Activity Centre Sierra Espuña

La Mariposa is a fully licensed activity centre with restaurant, accommodation and entertainment, set in the mountains of Sierra Espuña

The Hotel La Mariposa is run by Mark, Sam and their two children in the stunning Sierra Espuña, and offers a tranquil haven which can either form the base for an enjoyable holiday, or offer a special retreat for a couple of nights in the heart of the Murcian countryside.

The hotel also offers a range of excellent value meals, including a Menu del Día and their very popular Sunday lunches (booking a must), as well as all day snacks and special entertainment evenings.  Booking is required due to the popularity.

Leisure activities and sports facilities

The location in the centre of the regional park of Sierra Espuña is an ideal centre for artists, photographers, walkers and lovers of beautiful countryside, but it is also a natural choice for those seeking adventure as the hotel itself runs a host of activities including quad biking, mountain biking and walking tours and holidays, with or without meals included. Special guided walks for groups, with guide included and a satisfying meal at the end of an enjoyable walk in the beautiful Sierra Espuña.

Quad tours are also arranged with a meal included as part of the package, and represent outstanding value, as well as being a highly memorable holiday activity for visiting friends and family.

Cycling and Mountain biking - We are able to hire bikes or accommodate experienced riders wishing to bring their own kit.

River rafting. We offer a gentle 16km route river rafting tour on the Segura river at Cieza. This is an activity the whole family can enjoy, from children, to teenagers, to adults, to grandparents.

Kayaking – morning kayaking trips are available on a calm lake in Mula in the morning then back to La Mariposa for a wonderful 4 course lunch. Lunch is included but if not required then please let us know.

Climbing - We are offering climbing tuition on our rock wall at Hotel la Mariposa. This wall is beginner to intermediate and is perfect for both children & adults!

Adventure holidays & multi activity breaks. We can organize a full range of activities to suit the most active amongst you and these can be combined with an overnight stay, evening meal and breakfast package. Prices depend on your choice of activity.

The restaurant

The restaurant serves meals as required, offering a fantastic 4 course menu del día for only 9€ which includes a hot beverage and is available 6 days a week to both guests or passing trade, as well as bar meals, tapas and an excellent value menu de noche.

Sunday lunches are extremely popular (available mid-October to early June) with a 4-course menu at 15 euros a head, with bread and a mixed Mariposa salad as an entree. The menus includes a choice of starters and main course, with beef, pork or chicken and a freshly cooked vegetable buffet. Also included is a choice of mouth-watering desserts, coffee or tea. Early booking is essential as the restaurant is usually fully booked for Sunday lunchtime, particularly during peak season. At all other times (June – October) a 12€ menu is offered on a Sunday.

The restaurant is able to cater for both individuals or groups and is happy to tailor a package to suit your individual needs. It also caters for the needs of groups or large family units. Birthday parties and special celebrations, with or without accommodation can be provided, as well as offering a covered terrace during the summer months with stunning views across the surrounding countryside.

Hotel accommodation

For those wishing to stay overnight, the hotel offers two evening bar meals, 2 tickets for the music, a double room for two people and two breakfasts at only 65 euros for 2 people. Guests may also upgrade to a 4-course evening meal for only 10 euros more, making it just 75 euros for a couple to enjoy a wonderful short break. The hotel also has a sun terrace and swimming pool for the use of guests and patrons of the restaurant who purchase food and drinks from the hotel.                  

Entertainment  

Music nights with or without accommodation are held on a regular basis and offer superb value for money as well as a thoroughly enjoyable getaway.  A choice of evening meal offers are included as well as a continental breakfast and minibus service for group bookings

Opening times 

The hotel is open every day of the year. The bar and restaurant are closed between 16:00 and 19:00 every day, on Sunday evenings and all day on Wednesdays.

Directions

Alhama de Murcia is a large town just off the E15 A7 motorway at the foothills of the Sierra Espuña, from the centre of the town follow the signs for Mula/Pliego, as you enter the village of Gebas the hotel is the 1st building that you come to on the right hand side.

Don’t forget to ask about the free minibus for groups of 8 to 16.
