King’s College British Schools in Murcia and the Costa Blanca
Over 50 years delivering British education with British teachers and the English curriculum
For over half a century the King’s College British Schools in Spain have provided a bilingual education to youngsters in Madrid, Alicante and Murcia, following the English curriculum and British educational principles before helping various of their students to go on and achieve degrees at universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Yale, Harvard and the London School of Economics.
Academic achievement by no means the only aim in a child’s education, but there is little doubt that a good degree from a top university and being bilingual in two of the world’s most important languages is a combination which opens the door to a huge range of career and other opportunities. In order to deliver this combination, all King’s College British Schools are staffed by British teachers with proven expertise and passion for their vocation, focussing not only on academic content but also on developing thoughtful and knowledgeable young people.
It can be said that the King’s College British Schools provide a very British education. Classes are taught in English and offer child-centred, exploratory learning, encouraging children to think, to question and to explore new ideas rather than simply to memorize lists and formulae. At the same time every child receives personalized attention, and while the academic results are impressive (a 97 per cent pass rate at A levels in the Madrid school last year, for example), the satisfaction is equally great as staff see their pupils become open-minded, creative and dynamic individuals.
Education at King’s College British Schools is offered from the age of 2 to 18. IN infant and primary education the foundations are laid not only for the children’s later learning but also for their social and physical development, while in secondary education lessons become more demanding and the children begin to focus on their preferred subjects.
At all stages, though, the greatest advantage given to your child is a love of learning: their future development depends on learning new skills and constantly improving their understanding, not just in academic terms but in all aspects of life, and at the same time as passing exams it is vital that they appreciate the need to care for others and to contribute to the community.
