ARCHIVED - Government-funded compost containers offered by San Pedro del Pinatar Town Hall
Applications to receive one of the 23 containers available should be made by 9th December
The Town Hall of San Pedro del Pinatar is embarking on a new phase of a pilot scheme with regard to community and domestic compost containers for use in shared and private gardens, to be financed as part of an initiative by the national government’s Ministry for Ecological Transition.
23 compost containers are to be made available, equipped with ventilation devices and thermometers, in the second phase of a scheme which began with the installation of similar facilities in municipal ecological vegetable gardens, the local eco-park waste disposal facility and school vegetable gardens. Those receiving the containers will be trained in their use and loaned grinders in order to process the waste deposit in them and make the formation of compost quicker and more efficient.
Those interested in acquiring one of the containers can apply at the “Medio Ambiente” department of the Town Hall between 28th November and 9th December, and if demand exceeds supply a draw will be held on 11th December. Applicants must be inscribed on the “padrón” register of San Pedro del Pinatar as well as being over 18 and the owners of plots occupying areas of at least 50 square metres.
