ARCHIVED - Costa Calida golf resorts to be advertised on Sky Sports
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Some of the best golf courses in Murcia are to be advertised across Spain and the UK
Before the coronavirus pandemic hit, golf resorts in Murcia had become one of the main touristic attractions in the Region, accounting for around 8% of all regional tourism in 2019 and generating 268 million euros.
Now that Covid restrictions have been relaxed and Spain approaches a new normality, the Ministry of Tourism in Murcia is trying to coax golfers back to the region’s many golf courses, including La Torre Golf Resort, El Valle Golf Resort, La Peraleja Golf, Mar Menor Golf Resort, La Manga Club golf resort and even the family-friendly mini golf course; La Manga Adventure Golf.
As part of their new 250,000-euro marketing plan, the regional government will be signing deals with some of the major holiday operators, both in Spain and in the rest of Europe, and increasing their visibility at golfing fairs, such as the International Golf Travel Market, which will be held in Wales in mid-October.
In addition, the Ministry of Tourism will be splurging on high-profile advertinsing spots on Movistar+ and on the Sky Sports channels in the United Kingdom, showing off the region’s large courses, ideal climate and luxury accommodation.
Back in 2019, around 165,000 tourists visited the Region of Murcia to play golf, totalling over 2 million overnight stays, many of which were in the ‘off-season’, and generating 268 million euros for the regional tourism industry.
