The arrested denies murder but admits storing body parts in a freezer for five months
A 56-year-old man identified as “Agustín D. M.” is being held without bail while facing charges of murdering his partner in Cartagena and cutting up the body to dispose of it, despite denying that he is responsible for the woman’s death.
The accused’s version of events is that he found the lifeless body of the victim, 54-year-old María Dolores Sandoval, who originally came from Cieza, at her home in October 2018, and he has confessed that he dismembered it with a saw and stored the body parts in a freezer so that he would not be accused of causing her death. He has also admitted distributing them in rubbish containers in the districts of Barrio Peral and Los Barreros around five months later but remains adamant he did not kill her, and her remains have not been found.
If this is confirmed as a case of murder it will be the second death through gender violence in the Region of Murcia this year following the killing of María Lourdes Mantilla in Torre Pacheco on 10th May.
