ARCHIVED - Four new Covid cases in the Murcia region on Monday
The number of active cases has fallen to 69, with 22 recoveries from the virus
The daily Covid figures compiled at 23:59 on Sunday evening by the regional health service of Murcia have been published, and show an increase of four new cases of Covid-19 in the region during the last 24 hours.
However, the number of active cases has fallen by 18 during the same period as 22 patients who tested positive via the PCR swab testing sytem have recovered and left the list of positive cases which has now fallen to 69.
There are now 62 patients in domestic isolation, 7 patients are hospitalised, 2 of them in intensive care.
The number of fatalities remains unchanged at 150.
On Monday a new outbreak was reported in the outlying district of Cañada de la Cruz in the north-west municipality of Moratalla, with 2 people from the same family, one of them elderly, having contracted the virus. Four other family members have been tested by PCR swab testing today.
Number of cases associated with Bolivian nationals rise to 16
This outbreak originated with three people who arrived in the Region of Murcia on 3rd June after flying into Barajas airport in Madrid from Bolivia.
The first cases were diagnosed on 17th June, at which point the new system to search for known contacts was activated, leading to a further 60 close contacts who have all been isolated in quarantine, not all of them in the Murcia Region. 16 cases associated with this one outbreak have now been detected. The cases in the Murcia Region are in Cartagena and Murcia City.
The search for known contacts is being co-ordinated by the Centro de Coordinación de Alertas y Emergencias Sanitarias (CCAES) which compiles the daily Covid cases in Spain and has been attempting to track down all of the passengers who came into Spain on the same flight from Bolivia and may also be infected.
There is a significant population of South-American nationals living and working in Spain and at the moment only those who live here are permitted to enter the country.
This week the Spanish Government is expected to issue a list of countries from which travellers will be accepted for non-urgent reasons after July 1st.
