The heat is on across Andalucía as we head into the weekend, with many areas seeing long hours of sunshine and temperatures staying firmly high. While most of the region will bake under mostly clear skies, the strong easterly Levante winds are set to make their presence felt, especially close to the Strait of Gibraltar. Expect only modest shifts in temperatures, so if you’ve been sweltering in the last few days, the pattern looks set to stay much the same – hot and breezy, with some local variation.

 

Thursday kicks off with clear blue skies throughout most of Andalucía. Inland, especially around Granada and Jaén, some cloud may build through the day over the mountains, but rain is unlikely. Temperatures begin to dip slightly in the west, so Huelva and Seville might feel a touch cooler, though don’t expect much relief as mid to high 30s persist. The persistent Levante wind is strongest along the Strait, particularly noticeable around Tarifa and Cádiz, where gusts could be enough to rattle windows and hats alike.

 

Friday stays settled, sunny and warm. The stubborn Levante wind continues to whip through the Strait and should be especially gusty in Tarifa and Cádiz, but other areas feel gentler breezes, mostly variable and occasionally southerly inland. Temperatures remain very much on the high side so light clothing and staying in the shade are advisable.

 

A slightly cloudier start possible inland, especially over the hills of Jaén and Granada, with low cloud, mist or early fog likely near the Strait area, especially around Tarifa. Any cloud soon clears for another sun-filled afternoon, paired with a slight increase in maximum temperatures across the region. If you’re heading to Cadiz, winds remain on the stronger side by the coast and through the Strait, while elsewhere, including Málaga and Córdoba, winds are lighter and less noticeable.

 

Sunday rounds off the weekend with another scorcher: mostly clear skies, occasional cloud bubbling up inland near Jaén or Córdoba, and perhaps some lingering low cloud or mist hugging the Strait at dawn. As the day goes on, temperatures ramp up again, cementing the heatwave-like conditions across the region. Light, variable winds prevail, meaning little relief from the sunshine in places like Málaga and Almería.

 

The classic Andalucían summer is in full swing, so try and keep cool anyway you can – and keep an eye out for those breezy spells if you’re by the sea!
