As people throughout Spain have become used to the conditions of lockdown over the last five weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic one of the chief concerns in the everyday life of many has been the difficulty in finding appropriate protective equipment for those occasions when it is necessary to venture out of the family home, but in Alhama de Murcia the Town Hall is doing its best to help out by distributing such items free of charge to every household in the municipality.
Council employees, members of Protección Civil and various volunteers within the Social Services department will be distributing packs, each containing two three-layered facemasks and two pairs of protective gloves, to every single home in the whole of Alhama, including outlying villages and the Condado de Alhama development, all of the equipment having been acquired by the Town Hall. Once the deliveries have been completed, any residents of rural districts who have not received their free packs will be able to request them by telephone or email (the number and address will be made public once distribution has been completed).
At the same time, 8,000 facemasks received from the Spanish government last weekend have already been handed out to those using public transport in Alhama.
