The Environmental Department of Alhama de Murcia council has overhauled and repaired the fencing and pathway along the route leading visitors up to the mediaeval castle of Alhama de Murcia.
The pathway has fence posts along its length to prevent potential accidents and over time, some of these had been damaged or come loose, so the principal priority was to replace and repair in order to ensure visitor safety.
The team also ensured that the pathway itself remains in good condition, following the incidents of torrential rain this spring, which cause degredation to the pathway, which runs up the side of the steep slope to the castle.
During the cooler months, the tourist office runs guided tours of the castle.
