Following the success and popularity of similar schemes in the last few years the Town Hall of Alhama de Murcia is offering local residents the chance to join an attractively priced day trip to the ski resort of Sierra Nevada in the province of Granada on Saturday 8th February.
The hope is that the first half of February will bring sufficient snow for all of the pistes in Sierra Nevada to open, providing plenty of options for both skiers and snowboarders of all levels of expertise, and the The Town Hall offer is open to anyone aged between 16 and 65 although under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
The cost of joining the trip is 65 euros for adults (aged 16 to 59), 50 euros for children aged 6 to 15, 55 euros for seniors (age 60 to 69) and just 20 euros for children under 6. Included in the price are the coach journeys, the ski lift pass, ski and other equipment hire and insurance.
In addition, anyone wishing to reserve two hours of skiing or snowboarding classes can do so for only 5 euros, specifying their level: beginners, basic (green pistes), advanced (blue pistes) and experts (red pistes).
The journey is a long one, and for this reason the coach leaves the Recinto Ferial of Alhama de Murcia at 04.00 in the morning, with estimated return time stated as 21.30.
Laurence from Murcia Today has been on a few of these trips in recent years, so can vouch for the good organisation, no hassle skiing, comfy coach and value for money. Getting to Alhama for 4am was hard going, but it was easy to sleep on the coach there and back, eliminating the need for driving and parking, leaving lots of energy for the skiing.
If the trip is cancelled due to bad weather or no snow, refunds or alternative dates are offered.
Reservations can be made until 12.00 on 6th February at the Concejalía de Juventud (Espacio Joven, Casa de la Cultura), by email at juventud@alhamademurcia.es, or by telephone on 968 631985. The Casa de la Cultura is open on weekdays from 9.00 to 14.00 and 16.30 to 19.00.
