ARCHIVED - 568 new covid cases in Murcia Region; Thursday 7th January

On Wednesday the largest number of cases diagnosed in a single day was reported in the Murcia Region, leading to the decision to confine a total of 22 municipalities from midnight on Friday onwards, 80% of the total population of the region.
The figures reported on Thursday, which relate to diagnoses undertaken on Wednesday were the product of 3,486 PCR tests, the 16.3% positivity rate yielding 568 new cases.
Of the 568 new cases, 183 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 117 to Cartagena, 37 to Lorca, 27 to Molina de Segura, 24 to Yecla, 18 to La Unión, 16 to Jumilla, 14 to Moratalla, 11 to Mula, 10 to Santomera, 9 to Cieza, 8 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 8 to Las Torres de Cotillas, 7 to Mazarrón, 7 to Totana, 5 to Águilas, 5 to Alguazas, 5 to San Javier, 4 to Abanilla, 4 to Fortuna, 4 to Fuente Álamo, and 4 to Torre Pacheco, with the remainder spread around the remaining municipalities in numbers of less than 5.
There were three fatalities on 6th January; two males and one female, aged 84,83 and 87 from San Javier, Blanca and Cieza, their deaths bringing the total in the region to 766.
