ARCHIVED - 325,000 euros to improve park areas on La Manga del Mar Menor
Co-financed by the EU Regional Development Fund, these projects are part of a long-term deseasonalization plan for La Manga to improve facilities and services
325,000 euros has been allocated for the improvement of two public parks, the Jéssica and Acapulco parks, located in the first kilometers of La Manga del Mar Menor.
The revitalization works include the remodelling of 4,200 square meters with landscaped areas, trees, new cobbled pavement, urban furniture, rest and bio-healthy areas and areas of outdoor exercise equipment.
The works are part of the La Manga 365 Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy, co-financed by the council and Feder Funds( EU money; the European Regional Development Fund ).
This money aims to help European partners to create work and invest into projects which will improve their long-term chances of creating stable employment for the future, "For Cartagena, it is very important to invest into the deseasonalization of La Manga and these projects contribute to it, since they are focused on the use and enjoyment of residents and visitors", said councillor for Infrastructure, Services and Coastline in Cartagena, María Casajús during the presentation of the projects.
In addition, car parking with electric charging points fuelled by solar panels are being created alongside the Acapulco plaza to encourage the use of sustainable fuels.
The projects will be put out to tender during the next few weeks.
