ARCHIVED ARTICLEARCHIVED - 29th February guided tour of Medina Nogalte castle and cave house complex in Puerto Lumbreras
The tour includes a visit to the castle and cave houses in Puerto Lumbreras
Route name: Visita guiada a Medina Nogalte
Puerto Lumbreras in the South-west of the Murcia Region, offers guided tours to its Medina Nogalte castle and cave house complex during the weekends as we move towards spring.
The route in Puerto Lumbreras is in Spanish, although it’s interesting to follow the route being offered and see the places included, and in this case, the route is not only very visual, but the information boards inside the complex are in English.
The Puerto Lumbreras route focuses on water management and the cave houses built into the hillside around the castle, a traditional way of construction found in this specific area and across the border into Almería. The route also heads up to the castle itself overlooking the town with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and the town and rambla below.
Starting point; The first cave house in the complex is next to the car parking area and is called the Casa Taller del Artesano Medina Nogalte. From here, the tour works its way through the different cave houses to the castle at the top of the complex.
