ARCHIVED - 28th March FREE guided tour of Abanilla Olive oil mill
Discover the century old olive trees of the Abanilla orchards
The Region of Murcia offers a series of guided walks and visits to places of historical and natural interest throughout the region during the coming months, the aim being to encourage visitors and residents to explore new areas and discover the many interesting locations the region has to offer.
All of the commentary is in SPANISH although some of the guides will speak English, but it’s worth viewing these routes as a good reason to visit a new area and spend some time exploring, and maybe return to visit places of interest seen as part of this preliminary visit.
This visit however, is highly visual, so it's not so important to speak good Spanish on this tour!
Abanilla offers a characterful Murcian landscape, its lush fruit and historic olive groves dotted with palm trees and the remnants of its Moorish past.
The town centre itself is characterful and full of charm, with the only remaining operational public washing point, the Iglesia de San José, the Lugar Alto, the Casa de la Encomienda….perfect for visiting after a walk along the course of the River Chícamo. (Click for more information about Abanilla).
The tourist office will also be able to provide details of bars and restaurants offering lunch packages to accompany the routes.
