ARCHIVED - 1901 new Covid-19 cases in Murcia Region on Thursday; hospital admissions soar
There are nearly 100 people in intensive care in the region today

Although the total of new covid cases diagnosed on Thursday is slightly lower than the Wednesday figure, the highest ever recorded in the region, the total number of new cases detected in the last 24 hours is still higher than during the whole of the first wave of the pandemic here in the Region of Murcia.
The Ministry of Health reports that the number of patients diagnosed in the last 24 hour period is 1901;
Of the 1,901 new cases, 637 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 239 to Cartagena, 151 to Yecla, 89 to Lorca, 74 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 74 to Molina de Segura, 44 to Mula, 42 to Alcantarilla, 42 to Jumilla, 31 to Cieza, 31 to Torre Pacheco, 29 to Águilas, 28 to Las Torres de Cotillas, 25 to Cehegín, 25 to Fortuna, 22 to Moratalla, 22 to San Javier, 21 to Archena, 21 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 20 to Ceutí, 19 to La Unión, 18 to Bullas, 16 to Alguazas, 14 to Abarán, 14 to Albudeite, 13 to Totana, 12 to Los Alcázares, 12 to Santomera, 11 to Fuente Álamo, 11 to Mazarrón, 10 to Beniel, 9 to Puerto Lumbreras, 8 to Lorquí, 7 to Abanilla, 7 to Alguazas, 7 to Calasparra, 7 to Campos del Río, 6 to Ricote, with the remainder distributed in smaller quantities in the remaining municipalities.
This brings the total of active cases to 13,203 and the total of positives since the beginning of the pandedemic to 74,071 positives in the Murcia Region.
Fatalities:
Five deaths were reported from coronavirus for the last 24 hour period; three men and two women aged 74, 88, 77, 87 and 88 from Calasparra, Murcia, Cieza, Villanueva and Fortuna. These latest fatalities bring the total to date up to 797.
Hospitalisations:
Withing the last 24 hours there have been a further 44 Covid admissions, bringing the total hospitalised with more severe symptoms up to 583, with 98 in intensive care.
12,620 patients with mild or asymptomatic cases remain in home isolation.
