The Observatorio Astronómico de la Jara is an interesting family night out
Route name: VISITA NOCTURNA AL OBSERVATORIO ASTRONÓMICO DEL CABEZO DE LA JARA
NB: For the visit on February 29th the 20:00 slot is already full and bookings are being taken for an additional tour at 21:00.
Visit the Puerto Lumbreras Observatory at night and discover the stars. The astronomical observation is conducted in Spanish, but this is a highly visual activity.
It’s recommended that participants wear suitable clothing for an outdoor activity and carry a lantern or torch, particularly if they intend to follow the 1.2 km long sendero del tiempo route alongside the observatory.
Activity duration 1 hour.
The observatory is 7 kilometres from the centre of Puerto Lumbreras and is a well-equipped observatory with good classroom facilities as well as internal and external observation points. Alongside the observatory is a 1.2 km long astronomical route, the sendero del tiempo (torch required!)

Activity start times: January, February, March and October 20:00 (8pm); April and September 21:00 (9pm); May, June, July and August 22:00 (10pm); November and December 19:00 (7pm).Between the 16th June and 15th September visits are scheduled for every Wednesday and Saturday and between the 16th September and May there is one visit monthly on the last Saturday of the month. Activity costs 2.50 euros for adults and is free for children under the age of 10 accompanied by a paying adult.
